Wake On Lan (Wol)

Wake On Lan es una tecnología mediante la cual, una computadora puede ser encendida mediante un pulso de red, enviado desde una computadora remota. Funciona básicamente de la siguiente manera: La tarjeta de red queda dormida mientras la computadora se encuentra apagada totalmente, por medio de un software se envía una señal a esa computadora y la tarjeta de red, al recibir el pulso, enciende la computadora. Se debe notar que este proceso solamente sirve para encender la computadora y no para apagarla.


REQUERIMIENTOS DEL SISTEMA:

Configuraciones de la BIOS. 
Muchos ordenadores tienen configurado la opción Wake-On-Lan deshabilitada. El procedimiento 
exacto para habilitar la opción Wake-On-Lan será diferente para cada fabricante de ordenadores. 
Configuración:


1.  Entrar en la pantalla de configuración de la BIOS: Cuando el ordenador está 
arrancando, antes de empezar a cargar el sistema operativo, existe la opción de entrar en 
la BIOS pulsando una tecla (dependiendo del fabricante será DEL, F1 o INS).  


2. Dentro de la pantalla de configuración de la BIOS seleccionamos la opción “Power”. 


3. Dentro de la pantalla de configuración 
de “Power” habilitar las opciones 
relacionadas con encendido mediante 
tarjeta PCI, LAN, o Network. 


4. Salvar y Salir de la configuración de la BIOS

REQUISITOS DE HARDWARE:

Lo único que se necesita es una tarjeta de red PCI por lo menos 2.2, que será conectada a la tarjeta madre mediante un cable de tres pines tal como lo muestra la figura siguiente: 
  

Wake On Lan
Wake On Lan is a technology whereby a computer can be switched network by a pulse sent from a remote computer. Basically works as follows: The network card falls asleep while the computer is off completely, by means of a software sends a signal to the computer and the network card, receiving the pulse, turn on the computer. It should be noted that this process only serves to turn on and not off.

System requiement:
Many computers have set the option Wake-On-Lan disabled. The procedure
accurate to enable the Wake-On-Lan will be different for each computer manufacturer.
Configuration:

1. Enter the configuration screen of the BIOS: When the computer is
booting, before starting to load the operating system, the option of entering
the BIOS by pressing a key (depending on the manufacturer shall be DEL, F1 or INS).

2. Within the screen BIOS settings select the "Power ".

3. Within the configuration screen
"Power" to enable the options
related to power through
PCI, LAN, or Network.

4. Save and exit the BIOS setup 
 

 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

The only thing you need is a PCI network card at least 2.2, which will be connected to the motherboard via a three-pin cable as shown in the figure below:
